The single-story courtyard residence is located amidst typically flat Dutch farmlands. Open to views and elements, the residence is conceived in such a manner that the natural landscape can flow right up to the house. Views are framed throughout through double doors; the interior spaces are not overly exposed in order to create a sense of coziness and enclosure.

The gently sloped overhanging roof further enhances this sense of being sheltered from the elements. The spatial organization is pragmatic yet innovative. A generous central entertaining space acts as a conduit, connecting and separating different functions from one another. It also acts as an extension of the central exterior courtyard, a calm and reflective arrival space at the heart of the home.
